Candle Care

If you are new to wooden wick candles or want to make sure you are taking care of your candle then here are some tips to follow:

First Light

When lighting your candle for the first time, burn until the wax melts across the entire surface.  This may take up to 2 hours. Candles have a memory making the first burn set the tone for the rest of its life! Following this step will prevent "tunnelling" which can prevent the wick from getting enough oxygen making it hard to stay lit.

Trimming the Wick

Trim your wick to 1/8" before every relight. You can do this by pinching off the burnt wooden bits with your fingers before lighting and only once the candle is cooled or with a wick trimmer.  Our candles come pre trimmed so they are ready to go!

Burn Time

Try not to have your candle burn for longer than 4 hours. It is not good for the wax and will reduce the life of your candle.

Finished Candle

It is time to replace your candle when there is only 1/2" of wax left in the container. Our containers are reusable and cleaning your finished candle jar is very simply! Follow these steps:

  • Place it in the freezer for thirty minutes.

  • After the thirty minutes, remove and use a table knife (not a sharp knife) to break up the left over wax and to gently poke out the wick clip.

  • Wash jar with warm soapy water and voila it is as good as new.

Additional Tips

Keep the candle out of direct sunlight.

Burn on a flat, heat resistant surface and never move once lit.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.
